| What is the difference between the spectra-por 6 and Spectra/Por CE Dialysis Membranes. thanks, Adam | | |

 | Spectra/Por 6 (and all the numbered membranes) are cellulose membranes. The CE membranes are made of various cellulose acetates.
This makes the CE membranes more brittle and more easily chemically attacked. High pH can hydrolyze the acetate, changing the membranes characteristics. Organic solvents can completely dissolve CE membranes. The brittleness makes you take extra care in sealing your dialysis sacs.
The cellulose (a.k.a. regenerated cellulose or RC) membranes are generally stronger and less rigid. They are not easily attacked by bases or organic solvents.
